History: Joe's father was an Irish butcher, Kyle McAllen, who fled to USA to escape British rule. Once he was in the states Kyle settled in Boston were he married fellow Irish immigrant June McCarthy and opened a butcher shop after a few years working at a bean factory. One years later June died giving birth to their daughter, who died soon afterwards. While grieving for his wife Joe turned to drinking, gambling, and prostitutes to numb his pain. One of these prostitutes gave birth to Kyle's son Joe, after that Kyle became a changed man. He quit drinking and gambling and became a devoted father to his bastard son.
Joe was born with abnormally large bones and organs giving him the appearance that he was over weight. Instead this gave Joe great endurance, making him a natural long distance runner. He became the world champion long distance runner at 18, two years prior to when America joined WWII. After that Joe was asked to join the military as part of a special group of test subjects to create super solders.
The Irish American bastard jumped at the chance to be a hero and went under highly dangers experiments to become the perfect solder. They were able to use Joe's already enlarged bones and organs to make him the perfect solder. They increased his strength far greater than a normal human, but it was his stamina, adaptability, and endurance that they focused on.
By the time they were done Joe's body functioned far better than anyone else, not even other super humans were able match his endurance and adaptability. He could fight in any environment, eat anything put in front of him, go weeks without food, water, sleep, or even having to use the bathroom. Poisons and drugs barley effected him, and wounds that would normally kill a man in seconds would heal in mere days if not less.
When war broke out between the Empire of Japan and the United States, Joe was sent to the pacific since America was fighting it alone. While there the marines gave him the nick name The Glories Bastard after he single handedly turned the tide of the battle of Hillama, while the Japanese solders called him "Man of the Mountain."
After the war Joe disappeared from the public eye to deal with both the horrors he had seen and did during the war. He promised that if the world ever needed him he would return but until then he was going to disappear. Rumors of him appearing all around the wold started spring up almost instantly, some said he was back in Russia trying to over throw the USSR, others told stories of how he was in the Middle East trying to end the conflict there, and others said he had signed up with the IRA back in his ancestral home land of Ireland.
With every telling these stories got more and more bizarre and the only truly acquit accounts of his were abuts was the one of him going back to Boston to take care of his father in the last few months of his life.
